Academics

Our mission is to maximize all student outcomes in order to meet the needs of each child. We are a safe & responsive community that engages learners through empathy, inquiry, creative thinking, and problem-solving to empower students to be productive community members.

Math

At Edmondson we work very hard to embed our STEM units into everything that we do. As much as possible our math is deeply connected with the current STEM unit. This supports a deeper understanding of the content and high levels of engagement. Thompson School District has adopted the Envision curriculum. We utilize this along with ideals from All Learns Network to embody our ideals of student centered learning.

Literacy

At Edmondson we work very hard to embed our STEM units into everything that we do. As much as possible our reading and writing is deeply connected with the current STEM unit. This supports a deeper understanding of the content and high levels of engagement. Thompson School District has adopted the ReadyGEN curriculum. We utilize that curriculum as a support for our STEM based units.

STEM

At Edmondson we have worked for the last six years and continue working each year to refine our STEM units. Each grade level has 4-8 units which encompass learning goals designed to support students having enduring understandings as they participate as a member in society. STEM unit examples include; Light and Sound, Changes on Earth, and Community. Teachers work each year to focus on developing these units to be student-centered and inquiry driven. We design inquiry based, hands-on activities that solve real world problems. We work to incorporate field trips, community service professionals, and STEM based events into our planning. Students are able to engage with our Innovation Lac and STEM materials such as; 3-D printers, models, circuits, robots, FOSS kits, and green screens along with many other materials.
